Samsung Display’s Technology allegedly leaked to China: Hints at arrest

Samsung Display is one of the leading brands in the market, but now it is under investigation for allegedly leaking tech to China, as the report says.

It’s not surprising, as several instances have already come across of group companies of employees getting caught for allegedly selling crucial technology to Chinese companies. Now, a new incident has come into existence at Samsung Display, the company responsible for all the conglomerate’s advancements in display technologies.

A new report from the Korean media claims that South Korean authorities have already started searching Samsung’s Asan campus as part of the inquiry. According to the report, the investigation is in the early stages, but the agency says that several employees are probably involved in leaking the display technology to a particular Chinese rival. In case the claims are confirmed, arrests are expected.

The same incident happened five years ago in 2020, when two former researchers were charged with leaking OLED secrets to China. Then, in 2023, another employee who shared proprietary screen technology, which was valued at around $300 million, was caught and arrested.

All of these incidents confirm one thing: that Samsung doesn’t tolerate any kind of deceit and, right after catching the culprit, sends it for severe punishment. Meanwhile, executives at Samsung Display have warned that technology leaks are an ongoing issue, and the firm should maintain strict security measures.
