Samsung begins One UI 8.5 internal testing for the Galaxy Z Fold 7

Samsung’s upcoming major OS, One UI 8.5, is continuously running into the headlines, which is previously reported to run Android 16 QPR2 on top, rather than Android 16. Among the latest leaks of the beginning of the beta phase, it’s claimed that Samsung is already testing the One UI 8.5 build for the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Of course, the Galaxy S25 family, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, will be at the top of the list in receiving the rumored One UI 8.5 beta program; a new report significantly suggests that Samsung has already started developing the upcoming One UI 8.5 build for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 behind closed doors.
Specifically, according to a report by Akhilesh Kumar via SammyGuru, an all-new One UI 8.5 internal test build has just been spotted running on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is identified with the firmware version F966USQU5BYJ1.
It is important to note that the testing seems to be limited to the US, at least for now, while it’s expected that Samsung could perhaps expand the testing in more eligible countries over the course of time.
Well, several leaks and rumors are already claiming that One UI 8.5 could end up being a major One UI x.5 update after One UI 8.0. At the same time, the newer build is supposed to be arriving with more new features and improved performance, including more new lock screen clock styles, smarter AI notification summaries, Private Album, additional AI-powered features, and more.
Nevertheless, the next-generation Galaxy S26 family is already rumored to debut with the newest One UI 8.5 version out of the box. It remains to be seen when Samsung brings an official announcement regarding the upcoming One UI 8.5 version.
