Samsung’s One UI 8.5 to add new Lock Screen Media Player Animation

Samsung is internally preparing to release its upcoming OS, One UI 8.5, which is supposed to debut with the next-gen Galaxy S26 series. The continuous reports are already leaking from the leaked builds, revealing that the beta phase will begin next month. Now, a fresh leak suggests something interesting about lock screen media animation.

According to the most recent post shared by Tarun Vats on X, it elaborates that a leaked One UI 8.5 build suggests that Samsung is working on adding a new effect for lock screen media player animation.

The tipster shared a video showcasing a new album art transition effect of Media Player on the lock screen, where, when tapped on the skip, forward, or back button, the large album art fades away to bring the next one, while also giving a kind of wipe effect that expands from one or two within the entire frame.

However, this minor change might sound subtle, but it looks way more interactive and simple. Well, this new lock screen media player animation is spotted within the leaked One UI 8.5 firmware, and the testing is performed internally; thus, Samsung could possibly change before releasing the build officially next year.

Nevertheless, this new effect adds another leak to the leaked One UI 8.5 feature list so far, including the rumor that claimed that Samsung’s upcoming version is supposed to run Android 16 QPR2 on top, rather than Android 16. At the same time, Samsung is expected to begin the One UI 8.5 beta program, starting next month. It remains to be seen how the company will approach the new features or changes in the upcoming version.
