Samsung’s major OS, the One UI 8 rollout, suddenly hit a snag in the recent past, and as a result, the company needed to pause the rollout for a few flagship phones, including the Galaxy S22 series. Meanwhile, the latest Android 16-based major update is now available for the S22 family in the US.
Well, the previous One UI 8 rollout was limited to South Korea; however, Samsung then paused the update distribution for the international Galaxy S22 variants.
Now, Samsung is starting to release the software for the Galaxy S22 series in the US, which is available for the Verizon and AT&T-locked models in the country. Specifically, the latest firmware for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra has been identified with the S901USQU8GYJ1, S906USQU8GYJ1, and S908USQU8GYJ1 version numbers, respectively.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s One UI 8 is significantly topped up with the excellence of Android 16 with vibrant colors, enhanced widgets, and more improved layouts that take the entire user experience to the next level. At the same time, the update brings more improved Galaxy AI features, while also adding upgrades to productivity, security & privacy, and accessibility to provide a smoother, efficient, and optimized experience for the users.
Accompanied by features, the update further integrates the October 2025 Security patch for enhanced security and improved functionality, and performance. Well, according to the software update policy, Samsung has committed to 4 generations of OS updates for the Galaxy S22 family; therefore, this is perhaps the last major OS update for the device.
Nevertheless, Samsung has already started rolling out the One UI 8 update for the S22 series owners, and hopefully, this release should not be paused anymore.
