Samsung is now looking forward to introducing its second device based on Android XR, which is expected to be smart glasses, in which the Galaxy Ring is anticipated to play a major role.
Last month, the Korean tech giant launched its first Galaxy XR headset, based on Android XR and powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, featuring 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
Now, the company is gearing up to launch its wearable smart glasses sometime in early 2026 with deeper AI integration. Previously, several leaks regarding the smart glasses have surfaced online, revealing that they could be controlled by the Glasses Manager app, among other features.
Meanwhile, one of our reliable colleagues, Android Authority, revealed that the Galaxy Ring could work seamlessly with Samsung’s upcoming smart glasses. As it has spotted a code string while digging into the latest Galaxy Ring Manager app update, which includes “Ring gesture for glasses.”
This string suggests that Samsung is considering integrating Galaxy Ring with its forthcoming smart glasses. The Galaxy Ring already supports simple gestures; for instance, users can double-pinch to snap a photo or silence an alarm.
Extending these gestures to work with smart glasses could be a significant step toward creating a seamless way to interact with digital overlays without waving hands around. However, Samsung has yet to reveal whether the spotted code string will come into existence.
