Samsung could bring Apple’s Universal Clipboard with One UI 9 to Galaxy devices
Samsung has yet to release the One UI 8.5 software version; meanwhile, One UI 9 is already anticipated to bring one of Apple’s best features to the Galaxy smartphones called Universal Clipboard.
Samsung has completed the rollout of Android 16-based One UI 8 for all its eligible Galaxy smartphones. Now, it is looking forward to starting the One UI 8.5 beta program and introducing the final version next year, initially with the Galaxy S26 series, and then expanding it to more devices.
On the other hand, Google has already started preparing for its next major Android 17 OS iteration. Meanwhile, one of our reliable colleagues, Android Authority, revealed that Android 17 is testing a Universal Clipboard system, which will allow you to copy content on one device and paste it instantly on another.
The first evidence of this feature was found in early Android 17 development code, appearing as UniversalClipboardManager in Google’s continuity framework, where many Handoff-simulation features are being implemented.
According to the report, the initial description suggests that the system will track clipboard changes on the phone, transfer the data to Google Play Services, and then sync to other linked devices. Currently, the new feature is focused on text content, but it’s expected that the scope could be expanded in the final version.
Once Samsung completes the One UI 8.5, it will roll out the Android 17-based One UI 9 version for its Galaxy devices. This means that Samsung could adopt the Universal Clipboard with the One UI 9 iteration.
