Samsung Drops Major OS Support for Several Galaxy Phones & Tablets

Samsung has turned the tables around when it comes to delivering software updates to its Galaxy devices, and that’s the reason the brand leads from the front. While security patches significantly boost the overall security of the gadget, here is the list of Galaxy devices that are no longer eligible to receive any major OS updates further.

Well, software updates are not just meant to bring new features, changes, and upgrades, but they often integrate security improvements as well for smoother performance.

Interestingly, Samsung follows a dedicated software update policy for its entire Galaxy ecosystem and delivers updates according to their respective policies, where for some flagships and other mid-tier models it is for four years, while beginning with the Galaxy S24 series, for newer generation models it is a seven-year commitment.

At the same time, Samsung upgraded its software update policy, introducing a huge seven years of software support and security patches, while also bringing 6 years of commitment for some selective Galaxy A series devices, as of now.

Now, the list provided below shows that these Galaxy models will no longer be able to receive any major OS update in the future, but they are still eligible for getting security patches according to their respective software update policies. Once the deadline is reached, the company stops releasing any major OS updates further in the future.

Therefore, there are some Galaxy devices whose major OS update support has ended, but they will be getting their security patches according to their update policy.
