Surprise! The first One UI 8.5 build spotted for the budget-friendly Galaxy A17

Samsung’s newest One UI iteration, the One UI 8.5, has been in the spotlight for a few months or so, and hours ago, the company has already started the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series; meanwhile, a new report suggests a shocking revelation about the testing of the latest software on a budget model, the Galaxy A17.

Well, Samsung has already opened up the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra in a few countries, including South Korea, the US, Germany, and the UK. At the same time, a fresh report from a leaker, Akhilesh Kumar, via X, suggests a surprising act from Samsung.

Basically, the post claims that the first-ever One UI 8,5 build has just been spotted for the Galaxy A17 with model number A176B, on Samsung’s internal test servers. This eventually indicates that Samsung is perhaps developing the new software for this budget-friendly Galaxy A series model.

Nonetheless, the latest firmware for the Galaxy A17 carries a new A176BXXU3CYL3 version number, where the version indicates that the testing is currently live in Europe.

At the same time, it is highly believed that the latest One UI 8.5 software, which is powered by Android 16, is already confirmed to debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series, out of the box. While the latest software is indeed considered to be a major OS update, superior to One UI 7 or One UI 8, it remains to be seen what the official version packs when it comes with the upcoming Galaxy S series flagships, on board.
