Samsung surpassed its rival Apple in the Korean market during the third quarter of this year, as it has secured over 80% market share.
Samsung and Apple are the toughest rivals of each other in the smartphone market, and both hardly miss any chance to poke one another. A new report from Chosun revealed that Samsung has surpassed Apple for the second consecutive quarter in the Korean market.
According to the metrics shared by Counterpoint Research (via), Samsung secured 81% market share in Q3 2025, which is a slight 1% year-on-year increase. However, the company experienced a 3% decrease compared to the second quarter of this year.
On the rivalry side, Apple secured 18% market share, which is a 1% year-on-year decrease and 2% quarter-on-quarter increase. The report says that one of the key reasons behind Samsung’s growth in the Korean market is majorly driven by the steady sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, along with the perennial popularity of mid-range and budget-friendly smartphones, such as the Galaxy A36, launched in the second quarter.
Currently, Samsung is gearing up to launch more affordable and mid-range smartphones, including the Galaxy A07 5G, Galaxy M07 5G, Galaxy A37, and Galaxy A57. These devices are also expected to help in growth. It will be interesting to see whether the company will continue to maintain its leading position in the market.
