Samsung is currently focusing on delivering the latest December 2025 security update, and till now, the company has dispatched the update for several Galaxy devices. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22 series owners can rejoice, as the units have started getting the update, but there’s a catch!
Well, Samsung usually considers initiating its software updates, be it major OS updates or security patches, in its home country, South Korea, or any major country such as Europe.
However, this time, things appear to be changing, as the company has first rolled out the ongoing December 2025 security update for the Galaxy S22 series, beginning from India (spotted via Samsung Community India), while it’s expected to reach even more countries, including South Korea, over the coming days or weeks.
Now, the December 2025 security update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra has been recognized through S901EXXSCGYL1, S906EXXSCGYL1, and S908EXXSCGYL1 version numbers, respectively.

At the same time, the update is; however, a minor patch that doesn’t bring any major features or changes, but it comes as a part of Samsung’s monthly security patches that apparently focuses on improving the device’s overall security, core functionality, and efficiency in order to provide a secure user experience, while also protecting the device against external threats.
In addition to this, the update further adds stability and reliability to the entire system behavior and brings several performance optimizations that eventually leads to a smoother, secure, and stable experience for the users. Therefore, the Galaxy S22 series owners can now check and download the latest version on their phone when available.
