Samsung extends the December 2025 Security Update for the Galaxy S21 series in the US

Samsung has started extending the ongoing December 2025 security update for even more Galaxy devices, and of course, in different parts of the world. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 series has been receiving the update in the US.

Well, Samsung has updated plenty of Galaxy devices with the latest December 2025 security update so far. Now, the company is expanding the update for the Galaxy S21 series, which is currently available for the carrier-locked models in the US, while the update will reach even more units across the country in the coming future.

Specifically, the December firmware for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra has been identified with the version numbers, G991USQSIHYL1, G996USQSIHYL1, and G998USQSIHYL1, respectively.

At the same time, the December 2025 security update is, however, a minor security patch that doesn’t bring any major features and changes, but it is a significant part of Samsung’s monthly security update. It eventually packs a handful of fixes for all the security vulnerabilities, and focuses on improving the device’s overall security, core functionality, and efficiency to provide a secure user experience, while also protecting the device against external threats.

In addition to this, the latest update further adds stability to the entire system behavior and brings certain performance optimizations that eventually leads to a smoother, stable, and optimized experience to the users.

Samsung is currently working on extending the December 2025 security update to more Galaxy devices that are eligible to receive the latest update. Therefore, users in the eligible country can check out and download the latest version on their devices when available.
