Samsung One UI 8.5 Is Rolling Out Now — Here’s What to Expect

Samsung kicked off the One UI 8.5 rollout on May 6, nearly six months after beta testing began across the Galaxy S25 series and select other devices. The global expansion follows shortly after, with Samsung confirming wider availability starting May 11.

The update is launching in phases, as Samsung typically does with major releases. Korea got it first, covering the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and the full S25 lineup. From there, availability will spread to other regions and devices progressively.

Which Devices Are Getting It First

Samsung hasn’t published a complete eligibility list yet, but the first phase covers a solid range of recent flagships and tablets:

Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge are at the front of the line, along with the S25 FE. The Galaxy S24 family, including the S24 FE, is also included. On the foldable side, both the Z Fold 7 and Z Fold 6, along with the Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 6, are part of this initial wave. Tablet users on the Galaxy Tab S10 and S11 series are covered too.

What This Means If You Own an Older Device

If your device isn’t on this list, that doesn’t mean it’s been left out. Samsung’s phased approach means mid-range and older flagship models typically follow within weeks. Patience is usually rewarded.

For now, eligible users in supported regions can check for the update manually through Settings under Software Update.
