First Non-Samsung Wearable Device On Wear OS 3: MontBlanc Summit 3

Since Google launched the Wear OS by Google, only Samsung has been releasing wearable devices on this platform. However, the new launch of the Montblanc Summit 3 is taking Wear OS to a new experience.

Wear OS (also known simply as Wear and formerly Android Wear) is a version of Google’s Android operating system designed for smartwatches and other wearables.

Samsung ditched the Tizen OS and adapted the Wear OS alongside Google’s rebranded Wear OS 3.0 at the Samsung launch event in August 2021. Since then, no other wearable device has been released on this platform.

Montblanc International is a German manufacturing company of luxury goods based in Hamburg.

Montblanc took the opportunity to further cater to its audience with the smart wearable as a move to keep in all sectors of the market. Montblanc usually deals in luxury items such as pens, perfumes, etc., but this watch is seen as more of a fashion statement.

This watch is more likely to feature a stock Android experience as it doesn’t have any UI as Samsung does.

So why the Summit 3 is an important development because it will hint at what Google’s Pixel watch will be like.

We already expect Google Watch to be on the stock side, and seeing Montblanc has no experience like Samsung in UI, it’s more likely that it will be a fashion & status symbol statement rather than introducing any groundbreaking smart wearable features. Summit 3 was preceded by the Summit Lite, Summit 2, and Summit 2+.

MontBlanc Summit 3 : Features

• It will include step tracking, sleep moni toring, blood oxygen measurement, and workout tracking.

• Google Maps will provide directions.
• Google Pay offers payments, and Google Play is available to download additional apps.
• Estimated battery life is unknown, but current Summit watches survive a day in terms of battery life.

MontBlanc Summit 3: Hardware:

• Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100 Plus processor.
• The 42 mm watch features a rotating crown and two buttons.
• 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage
• 1.28-inch AMOLED display will have a 416 x 416 resolution.
• Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, and NFC.

It will also feature a heart rate monitor, a microphone, a barometer, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and an ambient light sensor. Besides this, not much has been revealed about the hardware.

Colors & Variants :

The Montblanc’s sports titanium case with silver, black, or a bi-color option. The rubber or leather straps are black, blue, or British green, as per case and band combinations. It looks elegant, alluring, and classy accessory/device.

MontBlanc Summit 3 Price:

Montblanc Summit 3 will cost $1,290, and the smartwatch will be available to buyers as of July 15 in Europe & USA. Customers will be able to buy the watch directly from Montblanc’s website. 

On the other hand, the Apple Watch7 starts at $399 for the 41mm GPS-only model, which converts around 31,229.53 Indian Rupees, and the Galaxy Watch5 Pro-45mm BT version costs 40,526.92 Indian Rupees, which leads to the Summit 3 about 100,981.20 Indian Rupees, which is almost three times more than Apple Watch7 and about two and half times the Samsung Watch5 Pro-45mm BT version. This seems okay when you see the manufacturer is a luxury brand like the Mont Blanc.

Wear OS 3 is also expected to introduce premium wearables from Fitbit, Fossil, and the Google Pixel Watch, later this year.
