Samsung is unquestionably a major player in the electronics market as a whole and the global leader in the smartphone sector. The business has gotten us used to see its Exynos CPUs integrated into its flagship models, at least for European regions. Clearly, things were about to change.

Qualcomm Snapdragon will power every top Samsung globally

In recent hours, in fact, Samsung has issued an official statement in which it reports on a new agreement with Qualcomm, the US company that has consistently produced hardware components for smartphones, especially processors. It’s Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors that we find in most top-of-the-range Android.

Samsung and Qualcomm have officially announced their partnership to offer CPUs across all of Samsung’sSamsung’s international product lines. As a result, Samsung will likely use Snapdragon chips in its smartphones, computers, tablets, and augmented reality gadgets.

The agreement provides for such supply between now and 2030, setting a major breakthrough for Samsung’sSamsung’s entire world. So far, we have seen the manufacturer offer its Exynos processors on top-of-the-range smartphone models. This really looks like an epitaph on the tomb of the Exynos.

Samsung and Qualcomm released a statement that mentions all products that will use 3G, 4G, 5G, and 6G technologies. Furthermore, it was made clear that Samsung Galaxy handsets would use Snapdragon processors.

On the extension and renewal of the strategic partnership,Christian Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, spoke:

“The extension of our licensing agreement is further proof of our mutual commitment to long-term collaboration. Our relationship with Samsung has never been stronger. For more than two decades we have worked together to lead the industry and are pleased to continue this strategic partnership to be able to develop innovative technologies and products that use Snapdragon platforms, and to power more premium Samsung devices globally.”

Snapdragon SoC for Galaxy S23?

As per the press release, it appears that the way has been cleared for the global distribution of Samsung Galaxy S23 series smartphones with Snapdragon.

According to AndroidAuthority, Cristiano Amon also intervened during the intervention to communicate the profit forecasts for Q3 2022 of his company, providing some other food for thought on the issue. According to Amon, in fact, it is necessary to interpret what is contained in the press release thinking that Snapdragons will be present within the Galaxy product range, even in the flagships of the range.

The Qualcomm CEO further stated that, prior to the deal, and in direct reference to the Samsung Galaxy S22 line of smartphones, Snapdragon SoCs were found in 75% of all smartphones sold, further confirming that the percentage will rise with the Galaxy S23 line. These are words that appear to be the beginning of the potential of seeing the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra powered by a Snapdragon SoC (likely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2) on a worldwide scale.

However, there is flexibility for interpretation in Qualcomm’s statements: Amon only ever mentions an increase in the number of devices (and the regions in which they will be deployed) in comparison to what was done with the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, which Samsung officially distributes in Europe (and other markets).

We’ll see which of the following scenarios involving Samsung’s next Galaxy S23 line will come to pass: will they arrive everywhere with Snapdragon SoCs, will they arrive in additional markets (which ones are unknown at this time) with Snapdragon SoCs, and will they continue to be suggested as an Exynos-alternative?

The last stage, in particular, is the result of logic and conjecture: we urge you to handle everything carefully because only time will reveal the actual plans of the two industry titans.
