One UI 5: How To Scan Text From Gallery Images On Samsung Galaxy Devices

Samsung recently rolled out the One UI 5.0 beta update for eligible Galaxy users. The update brings in new features and improvements that Samsung first showcased when the One UI beta was unveiled for Galaxy S22.

The One UI 5.0 first build comes with features such as Stackable widget, new emojis, new color palette and others. One of the features that Samsung added with the latest update is the ‘Scan Text’ shortcut in Gallery app. Here’s what the shortcut does and how you can use it.

Scan Text recognizes inform ation within your photos and online images, so you can make a call, copy text, share, Scan QR code, hyperlink. You can also use Live Text in the Camera app or when using Camera in apps — point your camera at a photo or image with text, then tap the Live Text button ‘T’.

One UI 5: How to scan text from photos in Galaxy smartphones

  1. Open the ‘Gallery’ app ;
  2. Select a photo, or select an image online.
  3. Now tap on ‘T’ text button on bottom right hand side; (The text button allow you to highlight anything form that image)
  4. Touch and hold a word and move the grab points to adjust the selection.
  5. Tap Copy. To select all of the text in the photo, tap Select All.

After you copy the text, you can paste it in another app or share it with someone. To highlight all text in a photo or image, select a photo or image, then tap the Text button in the lower-right corner of the photo.
