Samsung is always going ahead in giving updates, but it has been a little late till December 2022 because now the company wants to serve its One UI (Android 13) update to its Galaxy devices as soon as possible. Earlier today, the Korean giant released the latest security update to only three smartphones, including Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy S20, and Galaxy A90 5G. Now, Samsung has released the December 2022 security update for the Note 20 Lineup.

As of now, the December 2022 security update is available in Europe and could be expanded to other parts of the world in the coming days. Users who own Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra can identify the latest update by checking the firmware version number N981BXXS5GVK9 and N986BXXS5GVK9 for 5G variant and N981FXXS5GVK9/N986FXXS5GVK9 for LTE variant.

The December 2022 security patch comes w ith several bug fixes which resolve a number of issues regarding security vulnerabilities as well as it also improves the overall performance and stability of the device. According to Samsung’s official documentation

December 2022 Security Patch Vulnerabilities:

According to the Samsung documentation, the latest patches include the fix to as many as 93 vulnerabilities, 67 of them common to (almost) all Android devices. Of the long list, 5 vulnerabilities are defined as critical, 63 high priority, and 12 moderate. Most of these vulnerabilities affect Galaxy smartphones and tablets with Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12, but some also touch the latest version of the robot. Among the latter, one concerns the RCS system, which would allow malicious actors to access the phone number of an incoming call. It also required action on the vulnerability that would allow access to the contents of the toast notifications of the Personal Area through the Nice Catch app (it is part of the Good Lock package).
