Carrier-locked Galaxy S20 enjoys January 2023 update in the USA

Samsung is very aggressive regarding firmware updates; the company has rapidly updated several devices with the January 2023 security patches. Now the company is expanding this update to the devices irrespective of their price range. The company’s main focus is to complete the rollout to all the devices as soon as possible.

On the other hand, some devices are available in the US market that always gets the update after a long gap because of carrier restriction; the same is happening with Galaxy S20 devices. The locked variant of the devices is receiving the January 2023 update, which is affiliated with some networks, including Metro PCS and T- Mobile.

Users of these devices can identify the latest update by their build version G981USQS3GWA2, G986USQS3GWA2, and G988USQS3GWA2 for Galaxy S20 5G, Galaxy S20+ 5G and Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G respectively. The update is currently rolling out for the locked variant of the devices and is expected to be available for the unlocked variant soon.

The January 2022 security patch update has several fixes, which Google and Samsung include. There are 52 patches added by Google marked as High priority; along with these, Samsung has also included 20 other patches specially designed for its Galaxy devices.
