Samsung rolls out January 2023 update for carrier-locked Galaxy S20 FE in the US

Samsung has started rolling out the January 2023 security update to carrier-locked units in the United States. This update is a welcomed sight for those who have been using their Galaxy S20 FE. It can be seen as a sign of Samsung’s commitment to providing secure devices for its customers. 

The Galaxy S20 FE is receiving a new security patch that includes fixes for several vulnerabilities. The most notable of these is a fix for a critical security flaw that could allow an attacker to take control of the device. 

Samsung also patched some issues with NFC, Secure Folder, and Samsung Knox. Samsung advises all users of these devices to install the latest security patch as soon as possible, information leakage and elevation of privilege vulnerabilities. Other fixes include a number of improvements to the overall stability and performance of the device.

Carrier-locked Galaxy S20 FE in the United States are now receiving the January 2023 security patch. The update is arriving as version G781USQS9GWA4 and is currently rolling out to devices on T-Mobile, Sprint, and MetroPCS networks.

As is typically the case with OTA updates, this one is being rolled out gradually to all eligible devices. It may take a few days for the update to reach your device, so be patient and keep checking for it manually if you have yet to receive it. To do so, head into Settings > Software Update and check for any available updates.
