Samsung extended its Strategic IP Licensing Agreement with AMD
Advanced Micro Devices, or we can say AMD in short, is an American multinational semiconductor company that develops computer processors and related technologies for business and consumer markets. Recently, the Korean firm Samsung has extended the durability of its strategic IP licensing agreement with AMD. The extension will surely lead to some beneficial consequences for the company. Firstly, let us inform you in 2019, Samsung and AMD first announced their partnership to license AMD RDNA graphics architecture. With time passing, in the year 2022, the partnership led to the co-development of Samsung Xclipse, a mobile Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) based on AMD RDNA 2 architecture. It was the industry’s first mobile GPU hardware-accelerated ray tracing and variable rate shading features.
Now, this multi-year agreement has been extended, which will bring multiple generations of high-performance, ultra-low-power AMD Radeon graphics solutions to Samsung’s future mobile platform on Exynos SoCs. As a result of this agreement extension, Samsung’s mobile devices will offer console-level graphics quality along with optimized power consumption.
