Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy S20 FE get October 2023 update in the US

Samsung is rapidly expanding new updates for the Galaxy devices. It has already updated its several devices, which belong to flagship and midrange segments; however, due to server limitations, some devices are still left to get the update, and to bring the update to them, the company is continually working, and now it has rolled out the update to two more Galaxy FE series devices, including the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy S20 FE.

Samsung has rolled out the October 2023 security update for the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy S20 FE, which are affiliated with Verizon. The Galaxy S20 FE is getting a new update with the firmware version number G781VSQSBHWI1. The Galaxy S21 FE original and Galaxy S21 FE (2022) are receiving the update with different firmware version numbers, G990USQS9EWI2 and G990U2SQS7EWI2, respectively.

The October 2023 update doesn’t include any special features; it is a standard security patch update that only aims to get enhancements for the security of Galaxy devices. According to the official documentation, there are nearly four dozen

fixes introduced, of which 34 were added by Google, which resolved the issues related to the Android OS. Along with this, Samsung also added 12 more patches that exclusively fix the security vulnerabilities related to the Galaxy devices.

The latest update may also bring some improvements that enhance the overall performance and stability of devices. It is worth noting that the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy S20 FE devices have received the One UI 5.1 skin upgrade as their last significant update. The Galaxy S20 FE is no longer eligible for any major updates, but the Galaxy S21 FE will continue to receive Android updates for three more years.
