Samsung has released the October 2023 patch for some Galaxy devices and gradually expanded it to new devices. With the latest update, Samsung is actively working in the US. There are many devices that are getting initial updates in the region. This time, the locked variants got the new patch in the first phase.

Now that the fourth-generation Galaxy foldable is starting in October 2023, the locked Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 are receiving new updates with firmware version numbers F721USQS3DWI1 and F936USQS3DWI1, respectively. The unlocked variant of Galaxy Z Flip 4 is getting the update with firmware version number F721U1UES3DWI1. However, users of the unlocked variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 have to wait some more time.

The October 2023 update is one of the normal security patch updates that doesn’t bring any new features, but it brings several new fixes that enhance the security of the devices. According to the official documentation, there are nearly four dozen fixes introduced, of which 34 were added by Google, which resolved the issues related to the Android OS. Along with this, Samsung also added 12 more patches that exclusively fix the security vulnerabilities related to the Galaxy devices.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 back in 2022. It has released both of the devices with Android 12 preinstalled. The company has promised to give software updates for five years, in which you will get four Android updates and some security updates for five years. These devices have already received one major Android update in the form of Android 13 and will get three more major updates in the future.
