Samsung to continue use of Qualcomm SoCs in future flagship devices despite of being expensive

Earlier, Samsung proposed a deal with MediaTek to supply its flagship Soc, Dimensity 9000, to the Galaxy devices, which can be used to power its Galaxy S series devices, but the deal didn’t get successful, and the Korean giant has decided to continue to get the support of Qualcomm for its devices.

When the deal was happening, the Korean giant considered using MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 chip, but at that time there was not enough supply available, as MediaTek wasn’t successful in fulfilling the requirement of Samsung, which needs to get around 30 to 35 million units.

Meanwhile, when MediaTek launched its next MediaTek chipset, the 9300, it directly dealt with Chinese customers and supplied around 10 million units.

Therefore, Samsung has to continue its deal with Qualcomm for its future Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26 series devices. Even though Qualcomm chips will be expensive, the company doesn’t want to break the business relationship with Qualcomm.

However, Samsung also has a third option that will provide leverage. Here we are talking about its own Exynos chipset, which is also rumored to be available on the Galaxy S25 devices worldwide, but as per the past, the company hasn’t made a good impact on the customers by its Exynos chipset, so there are very few chances to switch to its own chipset. But if it is able to make it happen with competitiveness to Snapdragon, then it could be beneficial for the company’s profits and also affordable for customers.
