Sony Xperia 1 VI To Bring Higher Optical Zoom Than Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

Published

on

Sony is all set to introduce its forthcoming flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VI, on May 15, 2024, which is expected to bring a telephoto camera with an even higher optical zoom facility than Samsung.

Sony introduced its Xperia 1 V flagship smartphone in May 2023, featuring a camera with an optical zoom ranging from 3.5x to 5.2x, a bit higher than the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 5x optical zoom. Now it appears again that Sony is all set to defeat Samsung in the optical zoom game.

Sony teased the fans with a new teaser video, revealing that the Xperia 1 VI will have a telephoto camera with a focal length ranging from 85mm to 138mm. If Sony attaches a primary camera with the same focal length as the Xperia 1 V to the forthcoming Xperia 1 VI, which is 24mm, this means that its telephoto camera will offer an optical zoom of 3.5x to 5.75x more than a primary camera.

Vivo is also actively setting up to introduce its flagship smartphone, the X100 Ultra, and it is expected to have a higher optical zoom (7x) than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It is quite clear that, in the race for optical zoom, Samsung is running behind other smartphone manufacturers.

However, the Korean giant has already started gearing up for the Galaxy S25 series smartphone, and it is expected that the Galaxy S25 Ultra could arrive with a higher optical zoom or maybe bring back the 10x optical zoom of the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Galaxy S25 Ultra battery appeared on BIS certification

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is the first in line to debut in early 2025. Right now, the battery that has been picked for the ultra variant of the series called the Galaxy S25 Ultra has received certification from India’s Bureau of India Standards (BIS).

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has almost half a year to take the floor, but the leaks have already started blowing in the market. Now the new report says that the forthcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra will also not bring a battery capacity upgrade with the standard Galaxy S25 model.

The new certification on BIS suggests that the Galaxy S25 Ultra battery will not bring any major upgrades. The batteries have been spotted with model numbers EB-BS938ABE and EB-BS938ABY on the BIS certificate. At the time, the model number of the batteries only appeared on the certification; the capacities were not mentioned.

It is expected that Samsung will attach a 5,000mAh battery to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. That capacity is more than enough to handle anything these Ultra handsets are capable of, particularly with the highly efficient nature of current smartphone chips.

However, a few reports draw attention to the possibility that Samsung could use three different chips for the Galaxy S25 lineup, and the Ultra model could exclusively use a Snapdragon chip in all markets, the same as the current Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Currently, the brand is busy with its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, which will be on July 10 in Paris. A bunch of Galaxy devices are in line to make their debuts at the launch event, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, the Galaxy Buds 3, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, the Galaxy Ring, the Galaxy Watch Ultra, and the Galaxy Watch 7.

OnePlus 13 Expected to Feature Better IP Rating Than Galaxy S24

Published

on

OnePlus is a budding competitor of Samsung, which is gearing up to launch its next-generation smartphone, the OnePlus 13, with an IP68 or IP69 rating.

Earlier this year, Samsung debuted its high-end Galaxy S24 series, which features an IP68 rating to protect the device from dust and water. The IP rating is a kind of extra layer of protection over the smartphone’s display.

The IP rating is an international standard that measures how well an electrical or mechanical enclosure can resist damage from liquids, dust, objects, and accidental contact. The Galaxy S24 series is rated IP68, where 6 stands for the dust rating, which is the highest level of protection, and 8 stands for the water resistance rating, which can resist up to 5 feet for up to 30 minutes.

As a strong competitor, the OnePlus 13 could be rated with an IP68 or IP69 rating. This is being speculated on by a tipster named Digital Chat Station. Apart from this, the Google Pixel 8 series and Samsung Galaxy S24 series already have this rating.

It will be interesting to see whether the upcoming phone will be powered by this IP68 or IP69 rating. But if OnePlus wants to overcome Samsung in the tech market, then it should add an extra layer of protection to its upcoming OnePlus 13 by offering an IP69 rating.

Since Samsung’s current Galaxy S24 series has an IP68 rating, So, this is a golden chance for OnePlus to make its strong place in the market by offering this a step better IP rating than the Galaxy S24.

Samsung Ends Update Support for Another Galaxy A Series Phone

Samsung has shared the details about the July 2024 security patch. With the revelation of the information, the company has also described the scope of the security patch update, where it has provided a dedicated list of the devices belonging to the different categories, including monthly, quarterly, and biannual.

These devices are divided on the basis of price range; however, from time to time, the company also removes the device from the list by following the policy. The Galaxy A21s is a fresh example of it.

The Galaxy A21s has completed four software support

Samsung has introduced the Galaxy A21s, launched back in 2020. It came with Android 10 preinstalled. Later,  the device grabbed three more major updates in the form of Android 11, Android 12, and Android 13.

Now, following the software update policy, the device is more eligible to get any new major update. Along with this, the device also grabbed several security patches. However, the device is no longer eligible for another minor update as it has crossed the limit of the update.

At the start, the device was listed under the quarterly update list, where it was eligible to get four security patch updates per year. After two years, it was downgraded to the biannual update list with the eligibility to get only two updates per year. Now,  after completing the full cycle, the device is removed from the list.

If you are still using the Galaxy A21s device, then you should switch to the latest device, because if you continue to use the device after six months of the last security patch update, then the device will not be able to protect your privacy and data from external threats. If you want to switch to the new midrange device, then you can choose the latest device released in the Galaxy A series this year.
