Samsung Galaxy users can now set ChatGPT as the default assistant

Samsung Galaxy users can now set ChatGPT as the default assistant on smartphones instead of Gemini AI as per preference.
Recently, Samsung introduced Gemini AI as its default assistant on Galaxy S25 smartphones based on One UI 7; however, users can replace it with Bixby. Meanwhile, now Google has announced a new upgrade that lets you replace Gemini with ChatGPT on Galaxy smartphones.
This will authorize you to quickly invoke ChatGPT’s voice mode by long-pressing the power button or swiping up from the screen’s corner. A report from one of our colleagues, Android Authority, claimed that the latest ChatGPT beta now allows you to set it as the default assistant on Android smartphones.
This new upgrade is compatible with any Android device, which means that Galaxy users can also take advantage of this feature. It allows users to trigger ChatGPT using all the buttons and gestures they usually use to trigger Gemini. Users can easily launch it by long-pressing the power button if they have that setting enabled. Appealing ChatGPT this way launches its voice mode, which some would say is fairly limited in functionality compared to what others, such as Perplexity AI, can achieve on Android.
However, Samsung has yet to release any official statement regarding this upgrade so it remains to see exactly how this new change will function on Galaxy devices.
