While Samsung is passionately working on its next generation triple foldable smartphone, which is going to be termed as the Galaxy G Fold; a patent has surfaced online that hints that an all new foldable device could be in the making with a surprising yet innovative form factor.
According to the information presented by SammyGuru, Samsung has recently filed a new patent via WIPO that suggests that the company is supposed to be working on a Quad-fold device, providing a slight hint that a new innovation is currently under process.
Specifically, the listings showcase a smartphone via a proper schematic design in order to provide information regarding its folding mechanism. It’s clear that the upcoming foldable device will have a unique form factor.

Unlike Tri-fold that carries two hinges, this newest foldable device (also Quad-Fold) is going to have three hinges, which will offer more flexibility like a laptop for working purposes while also allowing it to fold like a smartphone that is compact and can be easily fit in anywhere. Indeed, this new Quad-Fold could be the most significant shift for Samsung in the entire foldable industry.
At the same time, this patent simply depicts the idea of bringing a Quad-Fold model and does not offers the confirmation that Samsung will come up with such a foldable smartphone in future.
For now, Samsung is preparing to launch its first ever tri-fold, the Galaxy G Fold, which is arriving with a stunning form factor, for its Galaxy audience, following Huawei’s first triple foldable, Mate XT’s lead.
