Android 16 introduces a new Bubble Bar feature to enhance multitasking

Samsung is still busy rolling out Android 15, meanwhile, Google is actively working on its next-generation OS iteration, Android 16, which is anticipated to bring Bubble Bar to enhance multitasking.
Google is almost ready to introduce the stable version of Android 16, as it has already released four beta updates, with which it has reached the stable platform stage. A report from Android Authority revealed that Google is working on enhancing the multitasking functionality on Android smartphones by enabling any app to open in a bubble and making them accessible from a new bubble bar.
The Android 16 Beta 4 brings a new feature, Bubble Bar, which is combined with “bubble anything” it permiting users to easily open and switch between more than two applications, distinct from the current split-screen mode. The bubble bar will be more convenient on Android tablets as it will be combined with the bubble anything feature, which will provide a multitasking experience similar to the new desktop windowing mode on tablets.

The company is also gearing up to introduce different categories of bubbles and address lifecycle issues with applications in bubbles, which will add an extra layer of enhancement in the multitasking feature.
It’s expected that Samsung could adopt this feature with its next major iteration, One UI 8, as it will be based on Android 16. However, currently there’s no official statement whether the company will adopt this feature, so it remains to be seen what will happen next.
