Samsung Leads the Smartphone Market in Q1 2025, Driven by Galaxy S25

Samsung is back in the game with securing the top spot globally in the smartphone brand once again, as new metrics from Canalys reveal.
The Korean tech giant has struggled hard to maintain its leading legacy in the global smartphone market, but in Q4 2024, Apple snatched its first position. Now, again, it stands out as a tough competitor and led the smartphone sales charts in the first quarter of 2025.
According to the latest metrics revealed by Canalys, it’s revealed that Samsung registered its name as the world’s biggest smartphone brand in Q1 2025 in terms of sales. One of the key reasons behind leading the global smartphone market is the massive sales of the newly launched Galaxy S25 series, and also the new Galaxy A series phones.

Samsung shipped 60.5 million smartphones globally during the past quarter, and this heavy shipment helped it to secure a 20% share of the market. The metrics showcased that its sales improved by 1% as compared to last year. Whereas Apple stands in second position with 55 million shipments, which is a 19% share of the market during the same time, Q1 2025.
Xiaomi is the third biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world during Q1 2025, with 41.8 million shipments, which is a 14% share of the market. Then the rest of the other smartphone brands are in the line, vivo, OPPO, and others, respectively. The report from Canalys also hints that it could be possible, competition in the $200 to $400 price segment, to increase as smartphone brands try to boost their average selling prices as soon as possible.
