Samsung & Google working on enhancing the Android XR-based AR glasses ecosystem

Samsung and Google are working on the same table to upgrade the entire Android XR-based AR glasses ecosystem.
Google at the I/O event confirmed that Samsung will launch its Project Moohan later this year, and also announced that both companies are working closely to enhance the overall Android XR-based AR glasses ecosystem.
At the event, the Android XR Vice President Shahram Izadi revealed that Google is all set to take its “partnership with Samsung to the next level.” The partnership aims to improve the Android XR ecosystem by creating reference hardware and software for AR glasses.

However, Google didn’t reveal the exact details regarding who is responsible for which part, but it’s expected that Samsung is building the reference hardware for AR glasses, whereas Google is working on Android XR software for those glasses.
Noticeably, their prototype AR glasses are already being used by developers and testers, and potentially, more developers will get access to the development platform by the end of this year. The Android XR supports two types of AR glasses, including one with just cameras, microphones, and speakers, and the second that also features AR displays, which will cost more than the usual ones.
Currently, Samsung’s name is not registered as an AR glasses maker, but it’s expected that the company will introduce such glasses by the end of ths year.
