Samsung could unveil AR glasses prototype next year
Samsung is setting up to host the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in late January 2025, where it will announce the latest devices, including an AR glasses prototype.
The Korean tech giant is gearing up to unveil a prototype of its AR glasses at the Galaxy Unpacked next year after following years of speculation. However, still, the specific details regarding the AR glasses are limited, at least for now.
The rumors regarding the AR glasses have been circulating online for years, and finally, now it is reported that Samsung Electronics will introduce the AR glasses prototype in early 2025, possibly through an image or video.
It is expected that Samsung AR glasses will be lightweight, similar to Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, weighing around 50 grams. The glasses are anticipated to deliver stylish accessories with features, including gesture recognition, facial recognition, integrated payment functionalities, and more.
Samsung has yet to reveal the exact specifications of these features but is expected to offer enhanced functionality as compared to the Meta glasses, especially in terms of user interaction. The Korean tech giant has been working with Qualcomm and Google since February 2023 to develop its AR glasses. These glasses are expected to be lightweight and compact and will have a 155mAh battery. Previously, it was reported that it would lack a display, feature a 12MP camera, and be powered by Google’s Gemini AI assistant, enabling features such as payments, QR code recognition, and gesture recognition.
