Galaxy S27 Ultra Could Become Pricier with New 2 nm Snapdragon Chip

Samsung is yet to launch the Galaxy S26 series; amidst this, a new report is creating a buzz regarding the chipset for the Galaxy S27 Ultra (Snapdragon 8 Elite 3).
Recently, it’s been reported that Qualcomm is all set to launch its next-generation chipset, Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which is anticipated to power the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Meanwhile, a new report claimed that ahead of the upcoming chipset launch, Qualcomm has already started working on the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3.
A reliable tipster, @Jukanlosreve, on X, shared a post claiming that Qualcomm plans to release two variants of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3, which are codenamed SM8950 and SM8945, expected to offer different performance tiers and target different flagship devices.
Both the coming models of the chipset are rumored to be built using TSMC’s advanced 2nm process, which could result in better efficiency, faster speeds, and improved battery life. The high-end performance and the 2nm process will force the company to raise the price of the chipset.
On the other side, Samsung is supposed to debut the Galaxy S27 series in early 2027, and the Ultra variant of the series, the Galaxy S27 Ultra, is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3. If this expectation comes true, then the expensive chip could hike the price of the smartphone. However, there’s no official word regarding these expectations and reports yet, so it remains to be seen exactly what will happen next.
