Samsung & Nvidia invest in Skild AI to strengthen robotics innovation

Samsung and Nvidia are looking forward to joining a Series B funding round for Skild AI, a start-up focused on developing software for consumer robots.

The Korean tech firm, Samsung, is planning to share a table with Nvidia to bring a new revolution in the market by joining a Series B funding round for Skild AI. According to a new report from Bloomberg (via), the funding move would value Skild AI at about $4.5 billion, with SoftBank Group leading the round with a $100 million investment.

In case you missed it, Skild AI is a robotics company that aims to build a “general-purpose brain” for robots and also make them more adaptable, robust, and capable of interacting with humans in real-world settings.

Noticeably, the US company is planning to invest $25 million, whereas the Korean vendor is ready for a $10 million investment in a Series B funding round for Skild AI. The firm develops AI foundation models and software for a diverse range of robotic devices and applications. Previously, back in 2023, it raised $300 million in Series A funding, which valued it at $1.5 billion.

Now it seems that Samsung’s latest investment strengthens its growing focus on robotics. It has already marked its name as the largest shareholder in South Korea-based Rainbow Robotics earlier this year, which is known for its collaborative robots. On the other side, for Nvidia, the investment aligns with comprehensive efforts in AI and automation. Currently, it’s unclear whether this investment will be worth it and result in an efficient step for respective firms.
