Samsung unveiled its next-generation foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, during the Summer Galaxy Unpacked event held recently. While both the newbies have various software and hardware enhancements, most prominently, the devices run Android 16-based One UI 8 out of the box. Among other features, there’s an all-new inclusion, Call Captions.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 models are significantly packed with a handful of new and much more enhanced features, which come as a part of the latest One UI 8 suite. At the same time, a new feature has been discovered, according to Android Authority.
More specifically, the source mentioned that with One UI 8, Samsung has apparently packed a new ability within the newly unveiled Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 units. Call Captions, a feature that is designed to display what each person is saying on the screen during phone calls. Basically, it provides a real-time transcription of calls.

At the same time, Samsung further adds that such captions are more than useful when someone is suffering from a hearing problem.
Beyond this, the new Call Captions is more or less identical to the One UI 7’s Call Transcript feature, but with One UI 8, Samsung has slightly worked on and extended the feature’s functionality, reducing the additional process of recording the calls first and then transcribing them, providing users instant results.
Well, indeed, One UI 8’s newly added Call Captions feature is a useful capability that offers instant call translations; however, to run the Call Captions function, you must be required to have Samsung’s own Phone dialer, and it will not work with Google’s Phone app.
