One UI 8 Adds New Fingerprint Effects to LockStar Lock Screens

Samsung has been passionately working on the latest Android 16-based One UI 8 version, designed for its smartphones, and also preparing Good Lock’s modules for the newest build. Meanwhile, right after the Home Up, Samsung has already started making the LockStar compatible with One UI 8.
While the Good Lock’s LockStar module handles all the lock screen operations and customizations. It’s currently getting a new update that most prominently integrates the One UI 8 support alongside more new bug fixes and improvements.
The latest update for the LockStar takes it to a new version number, v7.0.01.5, and is now available to download via the Galaxy Store or straight from the Good Lock app.
Primarily, the update significantly adds One UI 8 support, which not only brings some major improvements that are exclusive to the latest version but also adds an all-new functionality when using the fingerprint for unlocking the phone.
Basically, Samsung has added five new fingerprint effects via the LockStar module, and with the One UI 8 support that has just been integrated, users will get interactive fingerprint effects when unlocking the phone. However, currently, One UI 8 is only accessible in the newly launched Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 and the Galaxy S25 series, which is running a beta version.

At the same time, you can easily apply different fingerprint effects using two methods: firstly, via the phone’s lock screen:
- Long press on the Lock Screen
- Then, tap on the Fingerprint icon
- 5 newly added fingerprint effects will pop up; here you can choose the desired one.
Secondly, you can apply fingerprint effects through the Good Lock app as well. Just enter the Good Lock app >> Tap on the LockStar module >> and here you will get the same lock screen page >> just tap on the fingerprint icon and apply any desired effect for your phone’s fingerprint sensor.
Furthermore, the changelog further mentions a few relevant fixes, where the update fixed the issue where the responsive clock on the lock screen was not functioning, the update improves the loading errors that is occurring for the lock screen widgets, and lastly, the update even solved the error of the icon display when using the Extend Unlock feature.
