
Samsung Galaxy S26 series will include Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge models instead of Base & Plus, and under the hood, the company has already started developing the latest firmware for both models.
Ritually, Samsung introduces three models under its Galaxy S series, including Base, Plus, and Ultra; however, it is not the case for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. The next-generation Galaxy S26 series will be full of surprises; it will include three models, but with new branding. For instance, the base variant will be sold as “Pro,” whereas the Plus variant will be replaced with the ‘Edge’; however, the Ultra will remain constant.
Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge Software Development Kicks Off Early
A few days back, it was reported that Samsung has started developing software for the Galaxy S26 Ultra in the US. Now the company seems to be testing software development for the Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge in the US with dedicated model numbers, which are as follows:
- Galaxy S26 Pro: SM-S942U
- Galaxy S26 Edge: SM-S947U
These firmware hints indicate that Samsung has already started developing the firmware for the Galaxy S26 series, which is supposed to launch in early 2026.

Although the Galaxy S26 series models are highly anticipated to run Android 16-based One UI 8.5 software version out of the box; however, it’s not officially confirmed yet, so it remains to be seen exactly on which One UI version the devices will run.
