Samsung has yet to launch the XR headset, and ahead of that, a new report says it is already planning to launch its first smart glasses in 2026 with deeper AI integration.
The Korean tech giant has already announced that it will launch its first-ever XR Headsets (Project Moohan) by the end of this year; however, the exact launch date has yet to be revealed. Meanwhile, a new report suggests that under the hood, Samsung has already started working on its first smart glasses to launch next year.
A reliable tipster, Jukanlosreve, revealing that South Korean publication SEDaily claims that Samsung is looking forward to launching its display-less smart glasses sometime in 2026.
Reportedly, the glasses are expected to feature a camera, microphones, and a speaker similar to Meta’s AI Glasses and could also be able to capture images and videos, answer your general questions using an AI assistant, and be coupled with your Galaxy smartphone.
Noticeably, Samsung is strategizing to build its product lineup, separate from its partnership with Google, which aims to secure a leading position in the smart glasses segment in the future years. The report suggests that the firm believes that in the coming few years, smart glasses will succeed smartphones as the next generation of devices that will travel along with the user.
Samsung’s first smart glasses will not feature a display, but it’s reported that they will offer one in future versions. On the rivalry side, Meta’s next-generation smart glasses, called Orion, have an AR display, which helps to strengthen their position in the market.
Since Samsung is looking forward to ditching its partnership with Google for its first smart glasses, it hints that it could use its dedicated software rather than Google’s Android platform. However, Samsung hasn’t released any official statement regarding its upcoming smart glasses, so it remains to be seen whether the report will come true.
