It looks like Google’s Android is taking over Apple’s contacts poster feature and has impressively started rolling out a new Calling Cards feature for Google Contacts and Phone apps. Check out its first glimpse!
According to the recent report, a few users using beta have already started using Google’s new Calling Cards feature, right after updating the Google Contacts app to its latest version, v4.61, which brought a beautiful Material 3 expressive design, alongside the latest 188 beta version of the Phone by Google app.
Android’s Calling Cards allow users to customize how they see their contacts when they call them. Despite only seeing a small profile picture placed at the center of the incoming call and current calling screens, the Calling Cards feature treats you with a fullscreen image as a background. Though Apple too introduced a kind of similar feature, indeed Google appeared to have introduced a completely different and, better yet, impressive way of creating or personalizing contact names.
Meanwhile, once Google rolls out the feature for all, users will notice a prompt showing:Introducing calling cards, tapping the banner will let users get started.
Specifically, users will be able to select the picture from their phone’s gallery or camera, and by adjusting it nicely, they will receive the ability to choose a desired font and color for the contact name that is supposed to appear on the incoming call screen.
Well, for now, the Calling Cards feature appears to be rolling out to only a few beta users, and hopefully, Google will expand this feature for all the Google Phone and Contacts apps users in the beta channel.
