Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 5x Camera could pose a significant upgrade for better pictures in low light

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 series has been in the spotlight for a while now, such as for the camera upgrades, in particular. Since several leaks continue to gather, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera is speculated to possess a minor yet significant change.
Basically, it looks like Samsung is finally making some significant and indeed the most awaited upgrades within the Galaxy S series Ultra model’s 5x camera; meanwhile, a new report highlights that this is supposed to happen with the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra.
According to the tipster, UniverseIce, on X, shared a post that claims that the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 50MP 5x camera seems to boast a wider aperture of f/2.9, while on the comparison side, the S25 Ultra has a 5x camera with an f/3.4 aperture. At the same time, this significantly suggests that a wider aperture contributes to more enhanced light passing on, resulting in brighter pictures with less noise.

Specifically, the wider aperture of the Galaxy S26 Ultra will help the camera sensor to absorb more light, which is useful when taking night pictures in a room, in particular, and as a result, users will get some nice shots with more clarity.
Also, the wider aperture further offers a more natural blurry background effect when taking portrait photos, and therefore, users don’t have to wait for a few seconds for the camera app to add some finishing touches that are done by the software side.
Well, other than that, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera module has an island (base), suggesting a major design shift, in order to maintain its stylish “Ultra” flagship look, its upgraded thickness, and of course, the camera protrusion. Also, the Galaxy S26 Ultra model is supposed to mark the return of the most iconic S Pen; however, it remains to be seen once the Galaxy S26 series makes its debut during the January Galaxy Unpacked event next year.
