Galaxy S26 series not bringing any major display upgrades except for the M14 panel

For the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, almost all camera details have already surfaced online; now a new report reveals the display detail, which is not satisfying.

Under the hood, the Korean tech giant is actively working on its next-generation Galaxy S26 series, which will include three models: Base, Plus, and Ultra. A recent report revealed that the company will launch the series in late January 2026 at the Galaxy Unpacked event.

To date, several Galaxy S26 models’ leaks and rumors have revealed almost all the camera specifications; for instance, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to bring a major selfie camera upgrade and feature a wider f/1.4 aperture, and more.

Meanwhile, now a reliable tipster, @UniverseIce, shared a long text post on X, claiming that Samsung is still not considering offering any upgrade to the Galaxy S26 series in terms of peak brightness. According to the post, the upcoming series still caps out at 2600 nits peak brightness.

However, the tipster noted that sticking to 2600 nits doesn’t necessarily mean Samsung abandoned the new M14 material. As it just means that the Galaxy S26 series will not bring any major upgrades in the display quality.

According to the previous reports, Samsung could use a QHD M14 OLED display for the Galaxy S26 series. Since the official statement regarding this report has yet to be revealed, it remains to be seen what will happen next.
