Samsung to bring Steel Shell batteries starting next year

Samsung is actively working on upgrading its battery technology to introduce it with next-generation smartphones, and now it is rumored to use steel shell batteries starting next year.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Samsung could acquire Group14 firm for silicon-carbon batteries technology to introduce with next-generation smartphones, most probably with the Galaxy S26 series. However, a few weeks later, another report revealed that Samsung may ditch Silicon-Carbon battery technology for the Galaxy S26, and the reason behind this was given as the difficulties in developing silicon-carbon batteries, which might push back the implementation on the coming flagship Galaxy phones.
Meanwhile, now a tipster, Anthony, shared a post on X, revealing that Samsung will use steel shell batteries starting next year. He also shared a structure of a steel shell battery, which includes several components such as the terminal, negative & positive electrode, separator, proof valve, aluminum shell, and more.
However, the tipster didn’t mention, the company will introduce these batteries with which smartphone, as he only mentioned ‘starting next year.’ The Galaxy S26 series is the first in the lineup to debut next year, it could bring this new battery.
A few days back, it was also revealed that Samsung is working on new technology referred to as “SUS CAN”; in this technology, the battery will be based on a steel casing. Noticeably, Apple has already introduced this technology in its iPhone 16, but limited to the Pro Max model. Since currently there’s no official word regarding this new battery technology, it remains to be seen whether this report will come true.
