Samsungs Releases ISOCELL HP3: A 200MP Sensor With 0.56μm Smallest Pixels

Today Samsung disclosed 200MP ISOCELL HP3, the image sensor with the industry’s smallest 0.56-micrometer (μm)-pixels.

Samsung introduced ISOCELL HP1 as the first 200-megapixel camera sensor for smartphones, digital cameras, etc. Although the latest sensor has not been used in a phone until now, it has been hyped for a long time.

Samsung skipped the name ISOCELL HP2 to ISOCELL HP3. ISOCELL HP3 is expected to be used in commercial devices by the beginning of 2023. According to industry rumors, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will be the first to sport the latest sensor, but many smartphone manufacturers will also use this sensor in their upcoming devices.

The mass production of the device is expected after this reveal and is to be completed in the starting phase of 2023.

This version, like the previous 108-megapixel, the 200-megapixel main camera will be constantly updated to make it better. Also, it will use advanced AI processing.

Although higher megapixels do not guarantee higher photo quality, thanks to developing artificial intelligence technologies, phones can now produce very good results by processing high resolution and often lowering the resolution or adverse conditions.
