Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 200MP ISOCELL HP2 may not be bigger than the S22 Ultra’s 108MP sensor
Maintaining the design of a device without compromising its quality and value can be learned from Samsung very well. Recently, the reports of its upcoming flagship Galaxy S23’s camera sensor’s thickness came out, which suggests that it will hardly be bigger than its predecessor’s 108MP sensor. It has been said that the S23 Ultra’s 200MP HP2 image sensor will be shorter than the Xiaomi 12S Ultra’s type 1-inch IMX989 sensor.
As per the reports, Samsung’s new 200MP image sensor, the ISOCELL HP2, which is coming with the Galaxy S23 Ultra device, has a physical size of 1/1.3’’. The company has made this sensor smaller than the others, such as Sony’s IMX989, so that it can not affect the inner structure design of the device (Galaxy S23 Ultra) and prevent it from being thicker. Notably, S22 Ultra’s 108MP HM3 also wielded nearly the same size.

Besides, Samsung is planning to work more on this 1/1.3-inch size sensor, so it can be improved in more and more ways, even without increasing its size. Informatively, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra device seems to have a thickness of 9.1mm, and Vivo X90 Pro Plus has a 9.7mm thickness, even more than the Xiaomi device. Notably, both of these devices feature Sony’s IMX989 sensor, which increased their thickness. On the other hand, the S23 Ultra is only 8.9mm thick, not too much, due to its smaller HP2 sensor.
