The biggest competitor of any soon-to-be-launched device is its own predecessor, and the same goes for the flagships as well. Hence, as the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s (top model of the Galaxy S23 series) launch is drawing near, every tech admirer desires to know what Samsung has done with it to make it different and more reliable than its foregoer Galaxy S22 Ultra, which can attract users towards it. Let’s find out the answer to it.

Odds of Galaxy S23 and S22 Ultra

First of all, let us inform you that both of these devices (the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy S23 Ultra) are the top-of-the-line models of their respective series, Galaxy S22, and S23. These are the top smartphone models of Samsung and are widely popular in the tech world. The S22 member joined the market last year (2022), and the S23 member will make its debut on 1st Feb at Galaxy Unpacked Event 2023. Now let’s move on to the main part, the odds of Galaxy S23 Ultra are listed below.

The camera of the Galaxy S23 Ultra

The Galaxy S23 Ultra has brought major upgrades in terms of camera. In particular, the S23 Ultra device does have the same quad camera setup on the back, but it has got some differences in the sensors and zooming abilities, which are mentioned below-

  • The S23 Ultra has a 200MP ISOCELL HP2 image sensor, while the S22 Ultra features 108MP ISOCELL HM3.
  • The soon-to-be-launched device could get 30x zooming ability which is only 20x for the S22 member.
  • Now this one is quite frightening, but a 12MP selfie camera is smaller than S22’s 40MP shooter.
Display modifications of the Galaxy S23 Ultra

Just like the Camera, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has brought enormous modifications to its Display too. However, the Galaxy S23 Ultra device features the same 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display as the Galaxy S22 Ultra, with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, but it has got upgrades in some terms. All Display modifications the S23 series member will show can be found below-

A better hardware composition

The whole Galaxy S23 series features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, so the Ultra model does, too, while the S22 Ultra has the Gen 1 SoC of the same. However, the series features an overclocked version of the same processor, which is said to have a better clock speed than its base version. Another difference is that this time there will be no Exynos-based variant for this series, and all Galaxy S23 devices will have the Snapdragon processor only.

On the other hand, the S23 Ultra model will also feature updated RAM technology. On one side, the Galaxy S22 Ultra features LPDDR5 RAM (UFS 3.1), while on the other side, the upcoming Galaxy S23 Ultra features LPDDR5X RAM (UFS 4.0). Besides, there will be no 128GB internal storage variant for the S23 member as the Galaxy S22 Ultra does.

Differences in terms of OS and UI

The upcoming Galaxy S23 Ultra will be booted with Android 13 and One UI 5.1 on top of it. However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra (introduced with Android 12) has also got the Android 13 update but with the One UI 5.0 version. As the S23 Ultra device is coming with a generation-up OS version, it will end up with an additional update (as compared to S22 Ultra) too. In particular, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will stretch up to Android version 16, but the Galaxy S23 Ultra is the first Samsung device to reach up to Android 17
