Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S23 series will be launched on February 1st, 2023. It will have a total of three devices- Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra. All these three devices vary in terms of features and services based on their category. In particular, the Ultra model brings excessive advancements over the other two. The other two models also show differences, in which the Plus model gets more services than the Base.

Recently, a twitter user Chunvn8888 shared information about the Galaxy S23 Base model through a tweet that shows the features of the two upper S23 models, which the Base model lacks. This article will let you know the dissimilarities between the Base and Plus models. Their differences are provided below, but before that, let’s have a look at the similarities between the Galaxy S23 and S23+ devices.

Galaxy S23 and S23+: Similarities

  • Android 13 with One UI 5.1.
  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
  • An 8GB LPDDR5X RAM.
  • A 12MP selfie camera and triple camera setup on the back (50MP+12MP+10MP).
  • A Full HD+ AMOLED 2X Display with 120Hz refresh rate.
  • HDR10+ support and 1750 nits peak brightness.
  • 10W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.
  • Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
  • Armor Aluminium frame.
  • Stereo speakers.
  • IP68 rating.
  • Others- Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, USB 3.2 Type-C port, and an Ultrasonic Fingerprint Reader.

What does the S23 Plus have that the Base model doesn’t?

As per the tweet, the base Galaxy S23 model will be different from the Galaxy S23+ in the below-mentioned terms.

No UFS 4.0 storage chip for the 128GB storage variant

Notably, in the Galaxy S23 series, the Base model is the only device that still has a 128GB storage variant (in pair with 8GB RAM), but it does not use the UFS 4.0 storage chip. The 128GB storage variant is the only device that uses the UFS 3.1 storage chip, which has nearly half the read and writes speed of the USF 4.0 one. Undoubtedly, it will be slower than the rest, even from its own 256GB storage variant.

The Base model uses the Wi-Fi 6E and not Wi-Fi 7

Besides the storage chip, the Base model also lacks the Wi-Fi 7 technology, which the other two members of the S23 series have. Instead, the Base model contains Wi-Fi 6E support. It is said that the Wi-Fi 7 has 4.8x better bandwidth than the Wi-Fi 6E. However, both of them have access to 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz radio frequency bands.

Other minor lacks of the Base Galaxy S23

Other than the above-mentioned features, the base S23 also loses in terms of battery capacity, charging support, and bezel width. The Base model has the smallest battery in the whole series (3900mAh), which doesn’t even support the 45W fast charging, while the rest two do. Besides, it also has a small Display (6.1-inch) and a wider bezel than the Plus and Ultra models. It is also reported that it is not getting the UWB that the S23+ has in it.
