Android 14 and One UI 6.0 availability

The current cycle of Android 14 development is running seamlessly. All the software updates came on time, such as Developer Preview 1 being available in February then, the second preview coming in March, then Beta 1 and Beta 2 in April and May, respectively. As these updates have come on time so it is expected that the coming updates will also be available according to the list below:

  • Platform Stability (Beta 3)- June
  • Beta 4&5- July
  • The final release for AOSP and the ecosystem
  • Stable update- August to October

Meanwhile, based on previous One UI beta programs, One UI 6 beta should start from the second week of September to the first week of August. But the release of the One UI 6 beta update depends on the Android 14 stable update; it is seen that Google provides AOSP to the other brands then they start their beta program. Once the AOSP reaches Samsung, it will start dropping beta updates for its devices.

Android 14 will have new Passwords and Lock Screen Quick Links features

Last year, the One UI beta update came to the latest S series devices, so it is a high chance that Galaxy S23 series devices will get the update initially. However, every year Samsung introduces new devices in Galaxy devices and also retires the old devices and stops giving updates to them. This is decided on the basis of the policy, which says Galaxy devices get a maximum of four Android updates if they belong to the flagship category, while some are limited to two or three major updates. Based on this fact, we have made a list of devices that are no longer to get one UI 6.0 update and will be stuck with One UI 5.1.
