Samsung Introducing New Impulse App Especially For People With Speech Disorders

Samsung Electronics Iberia is collaborating with Cheil to introduce a new mobile application based on AI named ‘Impulse.’
Samsung already introduced its kingdom of generative AI features as Galaxy AI, and now it is making significant use of it, as Samsung Iberia and Cheil are introducing ‘Impulse,’ a new mobile app based on AI that will help people with speech disorders such as stuttering. The giants stated that these speech pathologies have historically been treated independently through what is called ‘rhythm therapy.’ This type of therapy creates an instinctive compass in the brain to upgrade linguistic fluency.
The aim behind developing this app is to use AI to enhance the tough daily lives of people living with speech disorders. As per the study by Samsung, nearly 70 million people are going through speech disorders classified as stuttering, repetitions, or prolongations of sounds, words, or syllables.

This brand new ‘Impulse’ app will use a procedure based on natural language processing to inspect words and turn them into rhythmic vibrations delivered to the user’s wrist through Galaxy smartwatches. This application is compatible with Android smartphones and Galaxy Watch 6 series watches. Also, while it runs on a Galaxy Watch, it tells users the tempo of each word or phoneme “according to the particularities of the patient’s disorder.” This kind of rhythm therapy through the smartwatch’s haptic feedback permits users to recognize their speech rhythm and also avoid blocks in diction.
Apart from this, more features and functionalities will be added to this new Impulse app, and it will also offer more than 250 rhythm and tone exercises, which will increase in difficulty as users progress in speech control. It will offer three exercise levels for each of the four exercise modes, which are as follows:
- Boost your voice, boost your rhythm, boost your tone, and boost your speech.
For now, the brand has made this app available on the Google Play Store in Spain, and it is expected that the brand will look forward to expanding the availability of this app soon; however, the giant has not mentioned anything particularly regarding a global release yet.
