Galaxy S25+ & S25 Ultra Fully Support 45W Super Fast Charging with In-Box USB Cable

Surprisingly! Some good news just flashed online for Samsung Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra owners, which is going to reduce the stress of only requiring a 5A cable to perform 45W super-fast charging.

A Reddit post (via tipster CID) informed that most prominently due to the utilization of a 15V 3A profile in the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra, users will not require a 5A cable to charge their newer smartphones at 45W super fast charging capacity. It works pretty well with any USB PD cable and provides output that is equivalent to 45W.

Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra easily support full 45W super fast charging; no 5A cable needed

Previously, in order to use the super-fast charging 2.0 (45W) capacity, a 5A cable was needed to get the full speed. This is due to the fact that the charging mechanism in the older Galaxy smartphones only permits them to use a 10V 4.5A profile that eventually requires a 5A cable to charge the device to its full potential. Meanwhile, this has changed due to a new 15V 3A charging profile infused within the Galaxy S25 lineup.

Alternatively, another advantage that makes the new 15V 3A profile superior over the 10V 4.5A profile is that it ensures to deliver the same amount (continuous) of power flow even with a lower current, which is beneficial, more efficient, and reduces heat generation while charging.

While this is a subtle change that has arrived with the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra, it significantly eases the hassle of only getting a 5A cable to have 45W super-fast charging potential. With Samsung aiming for a convenient user experience as the Galaxy S25 series has already arrived, more useful changes and features are expected to arrive in the future.
