Samsung Could Add Qi2 Charging Support to the Galaxy S25 Series

Samsung’s forthcoming high-end smartphone, the Galaxy S25, will be unveiled next year at the Galaxy Unpacked event in late January, which is expected to feature Qi2 technology support through a case.
Reportedly, Samsung is gearing up to offer Qi2 wireless charging technology with the Galaxy S25, but with the catch that it might support it only if through a case. Previously, the first-party Galaxy S25 accessories list surfaced online that includes the Magnet Case, which hinted at the Qi2 wireless charging.
The Qi2 wireless charging open standard, unlike MagSafe, uses magnets to enhance charging speed as well as efficiency and is licensed by Apple. For now, there are no official words on whether the company will offer support for MagSage-like magnetic alignment through Qi2.
The new report suggests a few confirmations as the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), which governs the Qi standard, has confirmed that any device with a Qi2 logo features the Magnetic Power Profile (MPP), which is a magnetic alignment system derived from Apple’s MagSafe standard.
It seems that the forthcoming Galaxy S25 might not feature the Qi2 logo, which means it can still charge at 15W but not have magnetic alignment. Potentially, Samsung might introduce a separate “Magnet Case” that includes Qi2 magnetic alignment. This means that if users want to use Qi2 accessories such as magnetic chargers and wallets, they might need to purchase this case. Since Samsung has yet to reveal anything official regarding this, it will be interesting to see exactly what will happen next.
