Samsung’s One UI 7 has just missed its track, marking some significant delays that eventually left the entire Galaxy family literally disappointed. At the same time, it appears like the company is swiftly turning its focus to developing the next major software, One UI 8, which is going to be based on Android 16, of course.
First Look at One UI 8: Refreshed Design, Now Brief, My Files & More
Meanwhile, here’s the first and exclusive look at Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8 version, thanks to the detailed reports presented by Smartprix.
First up, the team has managed to install the latest One UI 8 on their Galaxy Z Fold 6 model, and guess what? The first impression was not that surprising, as the UI looked almost identical to that of One UI 7. However, it was uncovered that the newest version aims to bring a few changes or optimizations rather than integrating tons of changes or features. These are as follows:
Now Brief: No more exclusive for the Galaxy S25 series
Since Samsung has already made it clear that the Now Bar’s smarter upgrade, the Now Brief feature, will remain exclusive for the Galaxy S25 series; however, now, it looks like the function is supposed to be arriving on older models with One UI 8 version (as spotted within the CYD7 build number of the Galaxy Z Fold 6). Therefore, users will be able to get a more personalized briefing with suggestive content and actions that will change throughout the day.
Gallery
Moving on to the next section, a few minor changes were noticed within the Gallery app. With One UI 8, Samsung seems to be looking forward to integrating further visual UI design and other relevant changes in order to improve overall user experience. This will eventually make the tiles more visible and confine all the key options to one place to provide ease at the time of editing.
File Manager
Lastly, with One UI 8, they came across a few changes within the File Manager app as well. First up, the latest update entirely changed the layout of the categories section, making it more organized than before. This adds up to a major aspect of refining the user experience that has been lacking in One UI 7. Finally, the storage section also has certain categories that allow users to have a quick see-through at their device’s internal storage.
One UI 8 could bring more enhancements when it attains its full-fledged form:
Moreover, these above-mentioned changes and enhancements have just appeared on the One UI 8 version, which is currently in its early development stage, and thus, it eventually leaves room for more structural and behavioral changes out of the box.
At the same time, Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8 version will run Android 16 on top, and so it will carry a few features of Google’s major OS as well. While Google is on the right time when it comes to Android 16’s stable launch, the build has already entered into its platform stability phase.
