Android 16’s stable release looks on time, could match its June 2025 launch timeline

Google always imposes a target date for its latest Android OS release; however, it sometimes gets surpassed due to a few key refinements within the latest software iteration.
Meanwhile, this time, Google is quite confident, claiming that Android 16 is back on track and the stable version will be delivered to the Android users on time, which is scheduled for June 2025.
Back in December, 2024, Google shared the release roadmap of Android 16, planning for a final or stable rollout in June, 2025.
Now, this Google seems to be achieving the June target for Android 16’s release, as the company’s president has claimed that the development of the next major Android OS version is so good so far, while the work and testing are currently under process continuously; the software apparently looks more on track to achieve the previously planned timeline of June 2025 for its full-fledged rollout.
The reason behind Google moving fast to deliver its upcoming Android 16 to the entire Android ecosystem is the Trunk Stable Development procedure. This allows the development team to work on the same code simultaneously, rather than working separately on different branches. This efficiently reduces the additional time to acknowledge issues and work out possible challenges.
Since the Android 16 Beta 2.1 update has already been delivered to the Pixel users, which merely brings a few fixes. This could be a much-needed push for Samsung to fasten its process for One UI 7’s stable release so that it might start work on One UI 8 that is going to be based on the Android 16 platform.
