Qualcomm reveals the launch date of its flagship SoC Snapdragon 8 Elite 2

Samsung will debut its next-generation Galaxy S26 series in early 2026, which might be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. Now Qualcomm confirms the launch date for its upcoming chipset.

A few days back, it was reported that Qualcomm is working on its next-generation chipset, Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, and is also expected to launch it a bit earlier this year. Finally, the report comes true, as the company officially confirmed during the Computex 2025 keynote that the Snapdragon Summit 2025 will take place from September 23 to 25 in Maui, Hawaii.

The company will launch the upcoming chipset as the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is already powering many high-end Android smartphones, including Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy S25 Edge and the entire Galaxy S25 series.

It’s not confirmed yet whether Qualcomm will name its latest chipset Snapdraon 8 Elite 2 or Elite Gen 2. The chipset is supposed to be based on TSMC’s 3nm N3P process with Qualcomm’s 2nd gen custom Oryon cores in a 2+6 core layout, and could feature the Adreno 840 GPU.

Qualcomm will launch the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in September, which means that Samsung will get enough time to decide which chipset it will use to power its upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Initially, it was rumored that it would go with Snapdragon only, but a few recent reports hint at an in-house Exynos 2600. However, there’s no official word regarding the chipset from Samsung yet, so it will be interesting to see what will happen next.
